Daniel D. Perkins, age 85 of Reed City passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Saginaw Veterans Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1923 to David and Jennie (Stanley) Perkins. Daniel was honorable discharged from the Army serving during World War II. He and his wife, Dorothy have been residents of the Reed City community for the past 35 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy Perkins of Reed City; 8 children, Mary (Ken) Green, Elizabeth (Raymond) Joras, Daniel (Glenna) Perkins Jr., James (Sue) Perkins, Jane (Dale) Norman, Bertha (Alan) Kuehl, William (Trena) Perkins, and David (Mendy) Perkins; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Clarice Shollenberger; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Davenport Cemetery, Barton Township with Pastor Dean Davenport officiating. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #98 Firing Squad of Big Rapids. Arrangements were entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
