Daniel G. McClellan Sr. age 83 of Morley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
Dan was born on May 10, 1937 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was adopted at an early age and as a young adult became close to his biological siblings. He lived most of his life in Hart where he attended grade school and later the Cedar Lake Academy. During his teen years Dan survived Rheumatic Fever three times. While recovering he read continually, he especially enjoyed history books. He was a self-educated man.
During Dans professional career he worked for the Oceana County Road Commission, he was a Journeyman Electrician and a member of IBEW Local #876 out of Grand Rapids. He worked as a commercial and industrial foreman building substations. He also worked on three Nuclear Power Plants in Michigan. Dan wore many other hats in his life. He was an orchard farmhand, worked at the basket factory, a mechanic, County Road Commission driver, served on the Board of Review in two counties, church callings, volunteer driver for dialysis patients and meals on wheels. The best was his devotion as husband, dad and granddad.
His love of books opened the world to him, urging him to explore. He traveled by car from New York to California, Florida to Moosonee, Canada where the roads ended. Dan visited ten foreign countries; meeting them "backroads style".
Dan loved his family and loved to travel, always on the back roads! He had a fishing pole with him at all times and never passed up a good-looking stream. His love of fishing has been passed down to his grandchildren.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Big Rapids where he served in many callings.
