Dale Leroy Vredenburg, Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, joined his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 22, 2007. He passed away at Porter Hills Presbyterian Village in Grand Rapids at the age of 96. He was born August 28, 1910 near Stanwood to Arthur and Adella (Ribble) Vredenburg. Dale and his wife of 69 years, G. Gayle (Cook), made their home in the Big Rapids area for the majority of their lives. She preceded him in death in 2002. Dale retired from the Morley-Stanwood School system as a teacher in 1971. After retiring Dale and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico and spent many winters in Lakeland Florida at the Light and Life Camp. During his life, Dale was an active and dedicated member in the Free Methodist Church of Big Rapids. He leaves to mourn his 6 children: Donna (L. Theodore) Stressman of Morley Max (Zonetta) Vredenburg of Grand Rapids Betty (Robert) Sweet of Winter Haven, FL Arthur "Bud" (Barbara) Vredenburg of Mesick Dianne (the late Harry) Green of Sun City Center, FL Joanne (Jack) Cooley currently cruising the Caribbean 16 grandchildren, 31 Great-grandchildren, 9 Great-great-grandchildren a brother; S. Lewis (Jean) Vredenburg of Pacific Grove, CA 4 sister-in-laws; Helena Vredenburg of Ft. Collins, CO Dorothy Vredenburg of Stanwood Genevieve Cook of Big Rapids Rosemary Cook of Grand Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Mark Lofquist officiating. Interment will be at Pine Plains Cemetery in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends on Friday, August 24th at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Dale's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Michigan.
