Dale A. Vaughn age 69, of Big Rapids passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 at home with his family at his side. He was born on April 16, 1941 in Newaygo County, the son of Earl and Lois (Thebo) Vaughn. Dale married Darlene J. Eveland on December 24, 1960. He was a truck driver and worked for Murphy Brothers for many years. Dale was well respected and enjoyed what he did. After Dale retired in 2003 he was asked back to work by one of his old employers at Precision Pipeline, retiring again in 2009. He was a member of the Teamsters, Sons of AmVets Post 1941 in Big Rapids and the Eagles in White Cloud. Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Darlene Vaughn of Big Rapids; 4 sons, Darryl (Paula) Vaughn of Rodney, Dennis Vaughn of Big Rapids, Scott Vaughn of Grand Rapids, Dean Vaughn of Big Rapids; 1 brother, Wayne (Sherri) Vaughn of Big Rapids; 3 sisters, Doris (Darrell) Aldrich of Big Rapids, Judy (Glen) Burkett of Sears, Janet (Charles) Wright of Texas; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Vaughn in 2000, a brother Jack Vaughn, infant brother Bob Vaughn; sisters Bonnie Jack and Betty Grzesikowski and an infant grandson Zachary Vaughn. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Tim McShane officiating. Burial will be at Pine Plains Cemetery in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in Dale's name may be made to American Cancer Society.
