Dale R. Maneke, a lifelong resident of Rodney, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, at the age of 88. He was born at home in Rodney on March 4, 1933, the son of the late James and Esther (Molda) Maneke. Dale married June Hornby on July 5, 1952. He was employed by the Mecosta County Road Commission and retired after 30 years. Dale also worked for Johansens Cable; a cable plowing business owned by his nephew Steve Johansen. Dale spent his time on his hobby farm and fixing tractors and old automobiles. He enjoyed having a good time and visiting with friends in his garage. Dale was also a lifetime member of the Big Rapids Eagles Aerie 2535. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, June Maneke of Rodney; two children, Ken (Linda)Maneke of Big Rapids and Mike (Lori) Maneke of Rodney; seven grandchildren, Neil (Danielle) Maneke, Marie (Mike) Litrenta, Ryan (Judy) Maneke, Kelly (Billy) Lafountain, Mat (Sarah) Maneke, Camra (Mike) Shanteau, and Cody Maneke; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Betty (Sonny) Johansen of Rodney; sister-in-law, Ida Mae Maneke of Big Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dale was preceded in death by four brothers Earl, Arthur, James, and infant brother Kenneth Maneke and one sister Christina Larson. A memorial service will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Clear Lake Golf Club, 14777 150th Avenue, Big Rapids, MI. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Golf Club.
