Cornelia Lea Basch, fondly known as "Keil", passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 25, 2026. Keil was born on June 10, 1949 to Keith and Myrtle (Coker) Black in Muskegon, Michigan.

She graduated with her Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, and served the children of her community as their kindergarten teacher for more than 30 years at Big Rapids Public Schools. One of Keil's biggest passions in life was helping children. She was a devoted member of the Fellowship Christian Reformed Church of Big Rapids, teaching Sunday School and serving as a Deacon.

Along with her dedication to serving people, Keil was a talented majorette baton twirler and synchronized swimmer in high school. She also enjoyed getting into the outdoors and taking walks in nature. Above everything, Keil loved her family, and was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother.

Keil is survived by her adoring husband of 56 years David; their four children, Heather (Joseph Bearss), Kevin, Derek, and Jeremy (Danielle Pugh) Basch; her grandson Bryce Basch; siblings, Mark (June) Black, Christopher (Lena) Black, Kimberly (Gary) Boss; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Myrtle Black.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church of Big Rapids. Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. with the service to begin at 12:00 p.m.
