Obituary

Connie L. Buffin, age 61 of Grant Center, passed away peacefully Monday, September 26, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 18, 1950 at Fort Custer in Augusta, MI, the daughter of William and Betty (Bates) Tittsworth. Connie was raised in a military family and lived in different cities and countries until her Junior year when the family settled in Grant Center. She graduated from Big Rapids High School and later married Jim Buffin. Together they raised their three children in Grant Center. Connie owned and operated "Connie's Place Downtown Restaurant and Catering" in Big Rapids and later worked in food service at Ferris State University; she retired in 2009. Connie took an active role in her grandchildren's lives. She attended their school and sporting events and helped whenever she was needed. Connie enjoyed the outdoors; she loved motorcycle trips with her husband and the camping they did along the way. She liked to work in the garden and hunt for garage sale treasures. Connie will always be remembered by her family and friends as a wonderful mother, grandmother and good friend. Even through her illness, she always worried more about others, than herself. She is survived by her three children; Leanna Carlson and her children; Alex and Megan of Hersey; Dude (Lynn) Buffin and their children; Michael, Ryan, and Gracie of Grand Ledge; Matt Buffin and his children; Calvin, Kimmy, Brandon and Gavin of Grant Center; her mother, Betty L. Tittsworth; a brother, Bill Tittsworth; a sister Jo Ann (Rex) Colley all of Grant Center and many nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James "Jasmo" Buffin in 2007 and her father, William L. Tittsworth in 2003. A memorial gathering will take place Friday, September 30th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a eulogy and words of comfort taking place at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in Connie's name may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
