Clothilda M. "Clothy" Royce, age 81 of Remus, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 2, 2012. She was born May 24, 1930 in Remus, the daughter of Henry R. and Susanna C. (Baumann) Miller. Clothy graduated from Remus High School in 1947 as the class valedictorian. She married Don Royce on September 1, 1951 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Remus. Clothy was a contributing member of the Remus Community. She worked at the Remus Post office for many years; she was a member of the Remus Historical Society, the sewing club and she was an avid quilter. Clothy was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Michaels' Catholic Church. She was a member of the Alter Society, the National Council of Catholic Women and sang in the church choir. Clothy will be forever missed by her beloved family including her husband of over 60 years, Don Royce of Remus; four children, Jerry (Terrilee) Royce of Blanchard, Tom Royce of Connecticut, Kay (Mike) Hess of Harbor Beach, MI, Anne (Tim) Sprague of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vincent (Carol) Miller of Remus, Charles (Marie) Miller of Flushing; two sisters, Bertha Rhoads of Edmore, Helen (Max) Griggs of Midland; many nieces, nephews and a foster daughter, Francine (Joe) Cole and their family of Howard City. Besides her parents, Clothy was preceded in death by an infant sister, Agnes and an infant greaddaughter, Emily Hess. A Mass of Christian burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at St. Michaels Church in Remus with Father Michael Burt officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, May 4th at St. Michaels Church in Remus from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Roary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Clothy's name may be made to Woodland Hospice or God's Helping Hands in Remus.
