Clifford H. Guenther, age 96 of Big Rapids formerly of Bay City, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his home after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He was born March 29, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Henry and Amelia (Fischer) Guenther. Clifford graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1938. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Strachan, on June 14, 1941 in Bay City, where they made their home. Clifford was the Vice President of Engineering at Resistance Welding Corporation in Bay City and held multiple patents. He and Margaret wintered in Arizona for over 25 years and always looked forward to spending time at their vacation home in Gaylord. Clifford and Margaret enjoyed the last 13 years in Big Rapids.
He was very proud of his family. Clifford is survived by four children, Millicent (Albert) Long of Harrison, Suzanne (Arnold) Oseland of Grand Blanc, Sally (James) Eichorn of Ithaca and Frederick (Diane) Guenther of Big Rapids; 14 grandchildren, Laurie, Edward, Daniel, Christy, Barbara, Richard, Robert, Tracy, Jessica, Jamie, Shelley, Julie, Emily and Matthew; 35 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Guenther on November 17, 2014; and one sister.
A private family service was held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
