Cleo H. McCaman age 89, of Evart, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Metron of Big Rapids where he has resided for the last two years. He was born November 6, 1919 to the late Earl and Hazel (Rettinger) McCaman in Fork Twp., MI. In 1937 Cleo graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School. He married Ruth A. Wilson on May 15, 1943 in Muskegon. Together Cleo and Ruth made their home and raised their family at Tice's Hatchery where Cleo took care of the laying hens. In 1956 they moved back to the family farm where Cleo was born and they have resided ever since. He was a school bus driver for Barryton Schools before he became a custodian at Ferris retiring in 1981. Cleo was a member of the NRA, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, spent several hours working with wood, enjoyed making maple syrup and was a certified tinkerer. He was a faithful church member often teaching Sunday school and often took time to study the Bible. Cleo is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Ruth of Evart, two sons: Jay and Kendra (Mosher) McCaman of Sand Lake, David and Kathryn (Johnson) McCaman of Rapid River, one brother, Sam and Donna McCaman of Florida, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. The family will greet friends at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton tonight (Tuesday) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services for Cleo will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Daggett Funeral Home with co-officiants Reverend Jason Ellis and Reverend Timothy White. Memorial donations in Cleo's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
