Claudine Howard, age 86 of Remus went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Flora, Mississippi on February 27, 1931 to Frank and Ada (Smith) Howard. Claudine moved to Remus in the late 60s. She worked at Evart Products for 14 years before becoming a foster grandparent at Remus Head Start. Claudine also enjoyed working with the Red Cross, Gods Helping Hands, Mecosta County R.S.V.P and CMU. Claudine loved children and working with them. She attended the Wheatland Church of God, the Remus Church of God and currently the Mecosta Village Free Methodist Church. Claudine is survived by two sons: Willie (Gloria) Howard of Detroit and Derrick Howard of Barryton, six grandchildren, Venus (Eric) Charles, Zana Howard, Willie A. (Clara) Howard, Tanisha Howard, Demaris Johnson and Monique Howard; twenty-two great grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank Howard and Tom (Luella) Howard; seven sisters, Jesse Lucus, Everlana Tucker, Allie Grigsby, Geneva Ware, Gussie Cross, Prelia Laird and Bernice Buck. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Dar Howard officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Mecosta Village Free Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.
