Obituary

Clare C. Whipple, age 84 of Morley went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. He was born October 5, 1922 in Flint, Mich. to Randolph and Nellie (Carlson) Whipple. He worked at Defoe Shipyard in Bay City during World War II, Millington Body Works, General Motors, Wolverine Shoe, Denhams, and several die cast shops. Clare was a lover of nature who enjoyed traveling and fishing in the Upper Peninsula. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Clare is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret (Woodard) Whipple, six sons; Gordon (Peggy) of Stanton, Duane (Shirley) of Howard City, Bruce (Connie) of Morley, Dennis (Aletta) of Byron Center, Kenneth (Linda) of Morley and Bill (Karen) of Morley, two daughters; Marie Whipple of Big Rapids and Rosalie (Douglas) Moore of Morley, 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Rolland and Orville, two sisters; Donna Lee and Marjorie, one grandchild and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Frank Hicks officiating. Burial will be at the Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday (July 13th) evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday (July 14th) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Clare's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
