Clare S. Heimbach, age 94 of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Veterans Facility in Grand Rapids. He was born February 14, 1913 in Redding, PA the son of Charles and Mable (Parks) Heimbach. Clare was a 1933 graduate of Big Rapids High School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II. He married Leona Frasher and together they lived next to Clare's parents on Woodward Avenue, Big Rapids and worked on the family Fox farm. They later moved to Cadillac where they owned and operated the current Maggie's Tavern for 10 years. Clare also worked in construction for many years. Leona passed away in 1993 and Clare moved back to Big Rapids to make his home near family. He was a member of; the Third Avenue United Methodist Church, Eagles Aerie #2535 and Am Vets Post #1941 all of Big Rapids. Clare is survived by many family members and very dear friends including; Delores Hardy, Norm and Virginia Turner and John "Jack" Lange all of Big Rapids. A sister; Elizabeth Henry of Bridgeport, WA Sister-in-laws; Kay (Jim) Riley of Waukegan, IL Lena Illig of Clio Nieces and nephews; Claude and Dolores Page of Big Rapids Jean Olsen of Rodney Joyce Brown Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Mike Riegler officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home today, (Friday evening) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #98 of Big Rapids.
