Clara "Bobbie" Jankowski, age 76, of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at her home with her beloved family at her side. She was born on January 4, 1939 in Cedar Springs, to Eli and Dorothy (Butts) McNees. Bobbie married Tom Jankowski Sr. on August 11, 1956 in Cedar Springs and they spent most of their married life in Stanwood. She was the cook at Stanwood Elementary School for 29 years. Bobbie actively participated at the Mecosta County Senior Center, where she helped with bake sales, yard sales and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She loved to go to blue grass festivals and the Buckley Steam Engine Show. She is survived by; six sons, Thomas S. Jr. and wife Michelle of Stanwood, Bob and wife Cindi of Rodney, Wayne and wife Roxanne of Stanwood, Daniel and wife Pam of Big Rapids, Ted and wife Julie of Stanwood and Tony Jankowski of Stanwood; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Engstrom and Margaret (Bruce) Longcore; one brother, Earl (Arlene) McNees; numerous nieces and nephews and close friends, John (Barb) Turner, Grace Dukavas, Tilly Smith, Joe Marek, Jan Harman and Lloyd Higley. Besides her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Tom Jankowski Sr.; a grandson, Casey Jankowski; and four sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Gordon Tower officiating. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday, July 19th at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial contributions in Bobbie's name can be made to the Mecosta County Commission on Aging.
