Christina Sarah (Walters) Domke, age 87, of Barryton, Michigan, passed through to her new life in Heaven on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at her daughter's home in Orange Beach, AL, surrounded by family and friends. The Lord's presence could be felt in the room as her loved ones sang worship songs and prayed with her. Christina took her last breath at the very end of The Lord's Prayer.

She was born on June 20, 1929 in Pontiac, Michigan to Christopher and Sarah "Sadie" (Morgan) Walters. Christina was raised in an all-female household consisting of her mother and two older sisters during the Depression. She had a beautiful singing voice, and was offered an opportunity to go away to study opera, but had to decline because of difficult financial times. She went on to work in a factory while completing school, in order to help her family. Christina met and later wed her handsome soldier, Herbert Domke, in 1949. He later began working at GM, and the two of them became strawberry farmers. They went on to have two children, Carl and Alicia. Christina had a sharp wit, a positive attitude, and was a fun-loving, clever, industrious, strong woman who was committed to serving her husband and her family. She was very social and outgoing and loved to cook and host get-togethers. She enjoyed a lively debate and was a pure joy to be around. To know her was to love her! Christina attended a Lutheran church while raising her family, and later the Free Methodist Church, and finally the Church of God, where she was a member for the last 12 years. For 64 years, she and her husband enjoyed bowling on a league, hosting bridge parties, dancing at the local polka-pavilion (or anywhere they could), and traveling the country in their various rv's.

But the thing Christina loved beyond compare was spending time with her family. She always hoped the best, spoke the best, and chose to believe the best about everyone.

From life's first cry, to final breath,

Jesus commands my destiny.

No power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from His hand;

Till He returns or calls me home,

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand."

Christina is survived by her two children: Carl (& Jane) Domke of Harrison, MI, and Alicia (& Marshall) Carroll of Orange Beach, AL; Grandchildren: Kristie (& Mike) Fish, Brent (& Jennifer) Domke, Nathan Domke, Gabe (& Kelly) Carroll, Scott (& Krystle) Domke, Brice Domke, and Matthew Domke; Great-Grandchildren: Jacob, Jeffrey, Jessika, Wyatt, Tanisha, Zeb, Gage, Mattison, Cecelia, Taylor, Kaleb, Kohl, Eli, Spencer, Josh, Jaki, Lilly, and Isabelle; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends who will continue to cherish the memories they have of Christina.

Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 2013; parents: Sarah and Christopher; and her sisters: Alice and Luella.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Barryton Church of God, with Pastor Gary Bryan officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the spring at Brown Cemetery in Barryton.
