Obituary

Cheryl A. "Cheri" Shepard, beloved wife of Doug, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in Grand Rapids, at the age of 64. She was born on June 11, 1952, at home in Barryton, to Donald and M. Ramona (Monette) Tice. Cheryl graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1970 and made her home in Barryton. On November 2, 1985 she married Douglas Shepard and they made their home and raised their family in the Pretty Lake area. Cheryl enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was a cook at Williams Caf in the 80s, worked at McBrides and later at Walmart, before her health began to decline. Cheryl is survived by her mother Ramona; husband of 31 years, Doug; two daughters, Jennifer Morrison and Becky (Carl) Lindsey all of Mecosta; four grandchildren, Keri (John) Dennis, Kyle Shepard, Chelsea Rehkopf and Brittani Morrison; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Tribe, Louann (Mike) Johnson and Teresa (Tom) Tribe; one brother, Joe (Brenda) Tice; her dog, Dillion; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will all remember Cheryls Famous Taco Salad and treasure the memories they have. Cheryl was preceded in death by her dad Donald; brother, Daniel; sister, Catherine Troupe; and sons, Willard and Jon Shepard. A celebration of Cheris life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Barryton Community Center on Chippewa Lake/20 Mile Road. Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
