Charles F. "Chuck" Sheldon, age 75 formally of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 28, 2007. He was born August 13, 1932 in Grand Rapids. Chuck was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He began his working career as an over the road truck driver. Chuck made his home in Eaton Rapids for several years where he owned and operated Sheldon's Carpet Service. In the early 1970's he moved his family to Big Rapids and established U. S. Contract Carpets, he operated the store until his retirement in 1988. Chuck was a member of Big Rapids D.A.V. Chapter #18 and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his 4 children; Lee Ann Harvey of Florida Brian Sheldon of Georgia Charles F. (Weeon'onka) Sheldon II of Rodney Michael (Connie) Sheldon of Evart Ten grandchildren, One Great-grandson Two sisters; Shirley (Lynn) Fowler of Grand Ledge and Naples, FL Betty (Vick) Ford of Sun City, AZ and several nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; Charles L. Sheldon and Mary (Geasler) Sheldon Carpenter and a brother, William Sheldon. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 31st at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Reverend Edward Slate officiating.
