Charles Paul Loomis, age 78, of Weidman passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home with his beloved family at his side. Charles was born on December 25, 1935 to Arthur and Jennie (Miller) Loomis. On April 2, 1955 he married Donna G. Ashbaugh in Remus and they made their home and raised their family in Weidman. Charlie was employed as a tool and die maker and retired from Ferro Manufacturing in Mt. Pleasant and General Motors. He enjoyed reading western books, playing cards, horse shoes and taking a chance on a winning slot machine. Charlie is survived by; 7 children: Lonnie (Kathy) of Kissimmee, Fla., Connie (Dave) Dutcher of Remus, John (Lori) of Mt. Pleasant, Dannie (Cathy), Donnie (Laura), Jennie (Paul) Wernette and Pennie (fianc Kyle Vogel) all of Weidman; daughter at heart, niece, Sharon Hartig of Charlotte; four siblings, Tom (Phyllis) Loomis, Beverly (Willard) Denslow, Patrick Loomis all of Weidman and Jean Kimball of Mt. Pleasant; 40 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends who will remember his loving heart. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Arthur E. and Jennie C. Loomis; his beloved wife of 57 years, Donna in 2013; three infant children: Bonnie, Ronnie and Chuckie; five siblings: Myrtle Esterline, Thelma Leiter, Virgil Loomis, Keith Loomis and Vance Michael Loomis. Please join the family for a memorial celebration from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12th at the Weidman Eagles formerly the VFW Hall (behind the Weidman Fire Barn on Weidman Rd.).
