Charles E. Jenkins, age 77 of Tubbs Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home. He was born August 11, 1935 in Napoleon, the son of Kenneth and Gladys (Walters) Jenkins. Charlie graduated from Grass Lake High School, where he was raised as a child. He married Dawn Yost on October 26, 1956 in Jackson. They moved to Tubbs Lake in 1989 where they made their home and attended the Steadfast Baptist Church in Barryton. Charlie was a pilot and enjoyed flying until his health declined. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a member of the Barryton Rod and Gun Club. Charlie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dawn Jenkins of Tubbs Lake; two sons, Kenneth Jenkins of Mecosta and Mark (Mary) Jenkins of Romulus; five grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Ralph) Tingley of Lansing; a brother, Howard (Myrna) Jenkins of Gaylord; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kenneth Jenkins. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Mark Taloosa officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until services start at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.
