Cecil D. DeMott age 79, died peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 21, 1942 in Grand Rapids, the son of Stanley and Marvel (Blonshine) DeMott. Cecil enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1965 as a SP4. Cecil worked as a Master Plumber for Local 85 Pipefitters and Plumbers for 40 years. He was on the Morton Township Fire Department for over 51 years, and served as Interim Chief for one. Cecil enjoyed being outdoors; hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies. He will be missed by many, especially his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Janice; daughters, Sasha, Pauline Bolen, Nancy Emaus, Vicki (Brian Woodman) Munro, Michelle (Rick) Richards, Monica (Rick) Doherty; sons, Matthew (Heather) Beardslee, Michele (Dawn) Beardslee, Jeremiah (Alaina) Welch; sister, Joyce (Kast) Sredarsas; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Sam and Charlie; brother, Richard (Retha) DeMott; sister, Gail (Clarence) Patton; two grandsons, Larry Ryckman Jr. and Jordan Earl. A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chippewa Intermediate School in Remus. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
