Obituary

Carroll B. Benjamin, age 94 of Lakeview, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born October 31, 1922 in Hinton Township, Mecosta County, the son of Ben and Maude (Johnson) Benjamin. Carroll graduated from Mecosta High School in 1940. He married Esther Hubbard on November 16th and together they raised their family in the Lakeview area. Carroll took over his fathers farm, and became the farmer of the family. He especially loved the Oliver tractors he used daily. Carroll enjoyed traveling with his wife Esther, family and friends; the Upper Peninsula was a favorite destination. He attended the Brockway Wesleyan Church near Morley. Carroll is survived by four children, Carolyn (Don) Cole, Ray (Mary Jo Page) Benjamin, Steve (Kathy Methner) Benjamin, Kay (Dan) Larsen all of Lakeview; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther in December of 2007; a brother and a sister. Funeral Services will take place 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Brockway Wesleyan Church, 10951 Three Mile Road, Morley with Pastor Jeff LeMire Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Hinton Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Church one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions in Carrolls name may be made to Mecosta County Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels. Envelopes may be obtained at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids where arrangements were made.
