Carris M. Davis, age 58 of Morley, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at his home. He was born July 9, 1956 in Stanwood, the son of Robert and Alice (Criswell) Davis. Carris was honorably discharged after serving four years in the United States Army. He then served another year in the Army National Guard. Carris was employed by Fluid Routing in Big Rapids and Grand Rapids. He loved to hunt and restore cars. Carris is survived by his two children, Brian Maguire of Kentucky and Alice Davis of Big Rapids; mother, Alice M. Davis of Morley formerly of Stanwood; four grandchildren; three brothers, Larry (Shiela) Davis of Indiana, Robert Lee (Cindy) Davis of White Pidgeon, Gary (Sue) Davis of Washington; two sisters, Peggy (Victor) Rempalski of Grand Rapids and Linda (Kenneth) Whipple of Morley; aunt, Virginia Freeland of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Aleta Starr. A memorial service will take place 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home with Pastor Ron White officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday the 27th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Stanwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Carris' name to the family to help with expenses. The family would like to thank Carris' nephew, Greg Colbert and Hospice of Michigan for their special care.
