Carolyn P. Rorick, age 74 of Mecosta, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at her home. She was born September 23, 1939 in Grand Ledge, the daughter of Charles C. and Lucille H. (Austin) Torrey. Carolyn moved to Mecosta at the age of 14 and graduated from Mecosta High School in 1957. She married Don Rorick on October 17, 1970. Carolyn worked for many years with her parents, running "Torrey's Resort" at Pretty Lake. In 1992 she established Rorick's AFC Home in Mecosta, where she was known for providing kind and compassionate care for many people. Carolyn was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Mecosta. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Robert) Jackson of Mecosta, Stacie (Scott) Hillman of Mecosta; two grandsons, Nicholas and Joshua Hillman; a brother, Conwell (Georgie) Torrey of Mecosta; a sister, Charlene (Larry) Milligan of Mulliken and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Rorick. A memorial service will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 28th at the New Hope United Methodist Church, near Mecosta, with Pastor Greg Buchner officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church.
