Carole L. Miles, age 65 of Big Rapids formerly of Stanwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, February 17, 2019. She was born October 18, 1953 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Albert and Betty (Ray) Derby. Carole graduated from Morley Stanwood High School. She lived on a farm in Stanwood for many years. Carole was employed as a deli manager for both Country Corners IGA in Canadian Lakes and Carters Supermarket in Big Rapids. She then worked at Hayworth Inc. until her health declined and she had to retire. For the past 15 years Carole made her home in Big Rapids. She is survived by two children, Aaron Miles and Tracy (Bill Sanford) Miles both of Big Rapids; three grandchildren, Kaylee, Gage, and A.J.; three siblings, Mark (Jennie) Derby of Morley, Craig (Nicole) Derby of Big Rapids, and Debra Rolston of Big Rapids; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Carole was preceded in death by her parents; fiance`, Doug Burns; infant sister, Robin and brother-in-law, Daniel E. Rolston. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, where she was a lifetime member, with Pastor Jonathan Williams officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the Church. Carole will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Stanwood. Memorial contributions may be made in Caroles name to her family.
