Carl Leon Schmitt, age 29 of Morley, formerly of Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born March 27, 1986 in Merrillville, Indiana. Carl is survived by his mother, Cathy Ellsworth of Morley; father, Rick Ellsworth of Indiana; daughter, Caydence Ann Marie Schmitt and her mother, Tiffiany Marie Burgstrom of Indiana; grandmother Anna Marie Oakes of Morley; grandfather, Larry E. Oakes Sr. of Columbus, MI step-grandmother, Marie E. Oakes of Columbus, MI and many aunts, uncles and cousins, especially Carl Leon Oakes of Morley, Larry E. Oakes Jr., Nathan Ellsworth and Kevin Oakes all of Indiana. Carl was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Cora Oakes. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23rd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father James Wyse. The family will greet friends two hours prior to services on Saturday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon. Memorial contributions in Carl name may be given to his family.
