Carl F. Rundquist, age 87 of Barryton, took a tractor ride over the hill on Friday, November 4, 2022, he was met by St. Peter with a "Laurel and Hardy handshake". Carl was born in Big Rapids on July 12, 1935, to the late Carl J. and Helen (Dean) Rundquist. He attended Big Rapids High School graduating in 1953. Carl had many family members that served our country which inspired him to join the United States Army National Guard while in high school. He was a member of FFA in high school as his yearbook said "farmer by trade". In 1955, Carl married Clarice Cramer in Big Rapids and together they raised their family in Barryton and New Baltimore areas. He was a chemical pipefitter and also enjoyed farming and working on and restoring antique John Deere tractors. Over the years he was a member of Wheatland Church of Christ, several civic clubs, and Greasy Fingers Two Cylinder Club. Carl liked watching Laurel and Hardy movies and a good comedy. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clarice; three children, John (Debbie) Rundquist of Holland, Julie (Philip) Schrantz of St. Johns, and James (Kimberly) Rundquist of Remus; three grandchildren, Nellie (Scott) Osantowski of Saginaw, Karl (Caitlin) Schrantz of Canton and Sarah Rundquist of Remus; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Rebecca Rundquist of Muskegon; brother-in-law, Lester (Linda) Cramer; sister-in-law, Irene Warren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his step-father Bruce Everitt. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Cremation has taken place and Carl will be laid to rest at East Fork Cemetery in Barryton. Memorial contributions may be made to Gods Helping Hands of Mecosta County, where Carl and Clarice volunteered for many years.
