Carl "Butchie" Marek Jr. age 60 of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at his home. He was born April 16, 1950 in Lakeview the son of Carl Sr. and Goldie (Beemer) Marek. Butchie was a lifelong resident of the Stanwood area. He was a "happy-go-lucky" soul who was his mother's "Pride and Joy" and his brother's best "Buddy" . Butchie loved going out on the farm, gardening and fishing. He enjoyed going to bingo and playing cards with friends and family. Butchie will be forever missed by his loving family including his mother, Goldie Marek; his brother Tony (Barb) Marek all of Stanwood and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl R. Marek Sr. and 2 brothers, Roger and Emil Marek. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 2nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Trish Langdon, Chaplain for Hospice of Michigan, officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, August 1st at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Stanwood Cemetery.
