Carl D. King, 63, of Barryton passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born in Mt. Clemens on September 7, 1947 to Robert and Virginia (Nipple) King. On September 10, 1966, following graduation from Kingston High School, Carl married Dianne Smith. They raised their family in the Bay City area and Carl worked as a union steward for Chevy. Carl retired after 32 years and they moved to Barryton "God's Wilderness" in 2000. In 1999 his hobby became a reality. He received his taxidermy certificate and began C&D Taxidermy specializing in birds. Carl was dedicated to the things he held important in life. He was active in Boy Scouts when his children were young aiding Randy in his pursuit of Eagle Scout. Carl currently was the Scout Master of Troop 120 in Barryton where he helped at least 6 others become Eagle Scouts. Carl was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Carl and Dianne are members of the Barryton Church of God. He was helping with the Monday night bow league at the Barryton Conservation Club and was a member of the NRA. He had a strong moral character, loved his family and would do most anything for anyone. Carl is survived by his loving wife Dianne; sons, Randy (Denise) of Bay City, Lyle (Christina) of NY, Mark (Traci) of Bay City; his mother, Virginia of Kingston, 5 grandchildren, Chaz, Brenen, Alexandra, Olivia and Emma; great-granddaughter, Arianna; 5 siblings, Ruth Ann (Albert) Brown of Kingston, Doris (Doug) Green of Jacksonville, FL, Paul (Milly) of IL, Robin (Lori) of Kingston, Martha (Frances) Rayl of Cass City and many nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death his father; infant brother Roger, a brother Bobby and an infant grandson Adam. Visitation will be on Monday from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton (19238 S. 30th Ave., Barryton, MI 49305). Services will be 2PM, Tuesday, March 15th at the Barryton Church of God (20244 30th Ave.) with visitation at the church two hours prior.
