Carl W. Getts, age 80 of Big Rapids, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at his home. He was born on November 11, 1934 in Ionia, MI, the son of Ralph and Priscilla (Bennett) Getts. Carl married Marlene Joyce Knapp on July 3, 1956 and together they made their home in Big Rapids. He worked for H.J. Heinz for over 20 years. Carl enjoyed raising chickens, gardening and spending time with his family. Carl is survived by his two sons; John (Linda) Getts, Terry (Diane) Getts and one daughter; Phyllis Taylor, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother; six sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife Marlene; granddaughter Jennifer Getts; and son- in- law Richard Taylor. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating.
