Obituary

Carl B. Borowicz, age 83 of Rodney, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at his home. He was born February 21, 1935 in Hamtramck the son of Ignatius and Mary Rose (Zawacki) Borowicz. Carl moved to Cheboygan, MI as a small child. He graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1952. Carl entered the United States Army in May of 1956. He was a career soldier working as a Helicopter Maintenance Inspector. He served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966 with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Carl retired from the 82nd Airborne Division in May of 1976. He later attended Fayetteville Technical Institute, earning his Associate Degree in 1981. He worked at Simmons Army Airfield at Fort Bragg, NC as a civilian contractor, continuing work with his beloved helicopters. In 1994, Carl retired to Rodney, MI to make his home. He was a parishioner at St. Paul/St. Mary Catholic Parish in Big Rapids. He was an active member at the Eagles Aerie #2535, Amvets Post 1941 and American Legion Post 98, all of Big Rapids. Carl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice of Rodney; children, Denise (John) Peloquin of Stafford, VA, Carl Borowicz, Jr. of Clearwater, FL, Fred (Jill) Borowicz of Port St. Lucie, FL, daughter-in-law, Karen (Lenn) Ervin of Muskegon, MI; six grandchildren; Diana (Abraham) Sisson of College Park, MD, Michael (Lisa Hartsock) Peloquin of Baltimore, MD, Jessica (Gabe) Urbay of Jensen Beach, FL, Jennifer (Craig) Dyer of Port St. Lucie, FL, Christopher Borowicz of Muskegon, MI, Emily (Garrett) Pfromm of Muskegon, MI; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Greg (Ericka) Borowicz, Harry (Sandy) Budzinski; sister, Dorothy Hudak all of Cheboygan, MI; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Borowicz and four sisters, Margaret Borowicz, Gloria Pratt, Virginia Budzinski and Emily Hudak. Mass of the Resurrection will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Paul Campus Church in Big Rapids, 1 Damascus Road, Big Rapids with Father Michael Burt officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to Mass at the church. There will be a luncheon immediately following Mass at the Big Rapids Eagles. Spring burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Riggsville, MI. Memorial contributions in Carls name may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
