Calvin Richardson passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, September 9, 2012. He was 52 years old from Paris, MI. He was born June 20, 1960 in Seattle, Washington, the son of Clee and Betty (Moon) Richardson. Calvin graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1978. He married Kathy McWilliams in Rogers Heights on April 17, 1982. The young couple moved to California where they lived for nearly 10 years. They returned to Mecosta County where they started their family and Calvin later attended Ferris State University earning an associate's degree. Most recently Calvin had worked in Big Rapids driving Taxi and the City's Dial-a-Ride bus, both of these jobs he enjoyed very much. Calvin was an avid hunter; he especially enjoyed deer hunting. He loved riding his Harley and restoring vintage Hondas. He had great affection for all the family pets. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy Richardson; two daughters, Lauren Richardson and Stefanie Richardson; a granddaughter, Kenzie Renee all of Paris; his maternal grandmother, Maxine Moon of Fremont; three brothers, John (Charlotte) Melson of California, Craig (Carol) Thompson of Cadillac, Eric Melson of Big Rapids; four aunts, Lavon, Donna, Effie and Sharon; several nieces, nephews, cousins and the families of Ike, Jim and Louis Randall, JoAnn Boerma-Bartell, Bonita VanAlstine and Sharon Lintemuth. Besides his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Doyle Moon. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with interment to follow. The Reverend Joseph Cottle will be officiating the services. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Calvin's name may be given to his family.
