Calvin R. Kelley, age 83 of Cedar Springs, passed away September 6, 2010. He was born on March 26, 1927 to Charles C. and Ivy (Seward) Kelley. Calvin was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. He was fondly referred to as the "Bird Man" at Lincoln Square. He especially enjoyed the time he spent Wii bowling with his friends there. He had a great sense of humor, always the jokester. Calvin will sadly be missed and always remembered by those that knew and loved him. He is survived by 2 sons; Richard (Sharon) Kelley of Howard City, Robert (Judy) Kelley of Cedar Springs; 1 daughter, Margaret Wellman of Sparta; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn on December 27, 2006; six brothers, Harry, Ted, Wallace, Ben, Albert, Charles and four sisters, Ivy, Violet, Bessie and Mary. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10th at the funeral home with Pastor Barry Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Stanwood. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in Calvin's name may be made to the Missaukee County Humane Society in honor of "Blackie" . Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
