Caleb Jonathan "Mississippi" Fields, 18 of Remus, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his home. He was born on September 22, 1992 in Oklahoma City, OK to Daniel J. and Virginia (Sigsbee) Fields. Caleb was raised in Hernando, Mississippi and Remus, Michigan. Caleb graduated with honors from Chippewa Hills High School in Remus in 2011. This summer he was working as a ranch hand in Mecosta for Tim & Penny Merrick. Caleb was a fan of Westerns and avid reader of Louis L'amour. He loved animals, hunting and fishing. Caleb had a giving spirit and treasured his family. He will be deeply missed by his loving parents: Virginia Kaufman of Clare and Danny (Cinda) Fields of Remus; brothers and sisters, Starr (Doug) Randall, Stacy (Owen) Cypher, Marty (Raquel) Bergey, Patrick Fields, Brittany Fields and Summer Fields; 12 nieces and nephews who were his life, Brianna, William, Jordan, Abby, Victoria, Brandon, Laela, Jared, Blain, Brenna, Gracie and Madalyn; Grandparents, Carolyn Fallin of Fla./Remus, Anne Sigsbee of Clare and Daniel (Dawn) Sigsbee Sr. of Clare; good friend and brother at heart Ronnie Piatt who lived with Caleb, and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends. Caleb's grandfather Harold Fields preceded him in death in 1998. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus. He will be laid to rest at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Clare. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A prayer service and time for sharing memories will take place 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26th at the Chippewa Hills High School Gymnasium.
