C. Bryan Smith "Bryan" was born on April 4, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan, the second son of four boys. He is survived by his two younger brothers, Deems and Lee. His older brother, Harrison, passed away in 2012. Though his father passed away long ago, his mother lived to be 100. Bryan passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Bryan grew up with his three brothers and parents on a farm near Eaton Rapids, Michigan. As a grade school youngster he raised chickens and peddled eggs door to door. By 1959 he graduated High School from Eaton Rapids. He was the only one of the boys who stayed on the farm. He was a dairy farmer, raised chickens, pigs, horses, and for a while ran a riding stable with his brother Lee. After his family sold the farm, he moved to California where he worked in a computer processing business for 2 or 3 years. Later, he moved back to Michigan, purchased his own farm near Barryton, Michigan, where he no longer did farming work. Bryan's favorite hobby was going to farm auction sales. He rarely bought anything, but became well known in the area. He was an avid book reader and would usually read two books at each sitting by reading a chapter from one followed by a chapter from the other - ad infinitum. Bryan will always be remembered as the kindest person we've ever known. A memorial service will take place on 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home 4377 15 Mile Road, Barryton, MI.
