Obituary

Burgess L. Case, 81, of Barryton (Remus) went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma. He was born on August 12, 1928 in Sheridan, Michigan to Theodore Case Sr. and Pearl (Buxton) Case. Burgess graduated from Barryton High School in 1946 and later attended Ferris College in Big Rapids. Even though Burgess had complications he was determined to have an education and live a full life. He was a bookkeeper for many years and later in life he was a certified watchmaker and horalogist. Burgess was independent and lived on the family farm for most of his life. Since the passing of his mother in 2004 he lived alone until March of this year. Burgess had a very kind and caring heart. He was a special person to many. Even though he didn't have children of his own he was like a second father to many of his nieces and nephews. Burgess made life fun. He spent many enjoyable winters in Florida and always took time to write letters to family and friends. His hobbies included taking pictures and collecting stamps. He enjoyed watching the Christian channel, baseball games and game shows. He was knowledgeable about almost everything. He took comfort in listening to Family Life Radio and taking care of his loving cats. Burgess loved spending time visiting with family and friends. He is survived by His beloved sisters: Barbara Dutcher of Alma, Carol Collin of Vestaburg and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Burgess was preceded in death by his parents; Theodore and Pearl, brothers; Theodore Jr. and L.V. Case, special nephews Douglas Dutcher and Burgess E. Case, niece Tiffany Niergarth and great nephew Matt Epling. The family will greet friends at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton on Thursday evening from 3 PM to 5 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM and one hour prior to funeral services on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 25th at the funeral home with Burgess's nephew Rev. Mark Case officiating. Interment will follow at Flake Cemetery in Barryton. Memorial donations in Burgess's name can be made to the Mecosta County Animal Shelter, Barryton Area Historical Society or the Charity of Choice.
