Bruce A. Sanger, age 68 of Barryton, went to his heavenly home on Monday, May 12, 2014 in Grand Rapids surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 7, 1945 in Barryton to Richard and Nellie (Swilley) Sanger. Bruce graduated from Barryton High School in 1964. He resided in Detroit where he was employed by the City as a police officer. Due to injuries sustained in the line of duty he retired early and moved to the Lake area in the late 70's. Bruce married Sherry Bowling on October 17, 1981 in Farwell and later made their home in Barryton where they have resided ever since. For 25 years Bruce and Sherry spent their time together at local festivals and carnivals with their candy business. Bruce was a devoted member of the Lighthouse Free Methodist Church in Barryton. He enjoyed spending his time as a Chaplain pastoring to inmates through Forgotten Man Ministries. Bruce is survived by his loving wife Sherry of Barryton; children, Todd (Natalie) Sanger of Portage, Eric (Laurie) Sanger of Grand Rapids and their mother Shirryl Sanger of Big Rapids, Michele (Matt) Mosher of Traverse City, Rhonda (Matt) Lemke of Clare and Michael (Matthew Buck) Carrow of Ferndale; brothers, Robert (Ellen) Sanger of Texas; sister: Marjorie (Jeff) Golden of St. Louis; mother-in-law Maxine Bowling of Farwell; brother-in-law Terry (Bobbie) Bowling of Clare; sisters-in-law Letty Wilson of Barryton and Vickie (Dan) Dysinger of Farwell; 11 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Nellie Sanger, a grandson, Matthew Boggs, and two brothers, Troy and Ancil Sanger. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Lighthouse Free Methodist Church with the family greeting friends two hours prior from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Doherty officiating.
