IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda
Miller
September 2, 1947 – April 22, 2025
Brenda Marie Miller (Berryhill), formerly of Big Rapids, Michigan, passed away on April 22, 2025, in East Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 77.
Born on September 2, 1947, in Midland, Michigan, Brenda was the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Blackhurst) Berryhill. She graduated from Midland Dow High School in 1965 and began her career as a secretary at Dow Corning.
In 1968, Brenda married her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Miller. Together, they raised three daughters and, in 1975, settled in Big Rapids. There, Brenda embraced life as a devoted homemaker, a loving daycare provider, and an avid gardener who tended a large and fruitful garden for many years.
Brenda joined Brookside Elementary School in 1981 as the school secretary, a role she cherished. Over her 27 years of service, her warmth, organization, and dedication touched the lives of countless students and teachers.
Brenda had deep faith in the Lord and found joy in helping others. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, where she volunteered in many capacities over the years—from Sunday School to the Music Committee. In more recent years, she found fulfillment in serving at the weekly community dinner.
Above all, Brenda treasured her family. She lovingly created meaningful memories with her daughters— Michelle (Jeff) Schaub of Charlotte, MI; Deanna (Jassen) Dowling of Charlotte, MI; and Jolynn (Jeremiah) Hover of Allentown, PA; and took great joy in making every family gathering special. Her legacy lives on in her beloved grandchildren: Nicholas Utter, Anna Utter, Matthew Utter, Trenton Dowling, Tyler (Sarah) Dowling, Jonah Hover, and Noah Hover. Each carries the memory of her love—and the secret to baking her famous chocolate chip cookies.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Miller; her parents, Charles and Ruth Berryhill; her siblings and their spouses: David and Susan Berryhill, Bernard Berryhill, Chuck Berryhill, and Rita and David Pugh; and her in-laws, Edward and Barbara Miller.
