IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonnie
Carman
October 13, 1943 – February 27, 2025
Bonnie Colleen Carman, 81, of Mecosta, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. She was born on October 13, 1943, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Gaylord and Betty (Barber) Kowalk. She spent her early years in Lansing before moving with her family to the Mecosta area during high school. It was there that she met the love of her life, and together they built a family in the heart of Mecosta.
On September 10, 1960, Bonnie married John W. Carman, and together they shared 61 wonderful years. She worked for many years at Connors Supper Club before becoming a paraprofessional at the Mecosta Osceola I.S.D., where she dedicated 15 years to helping students. Bonnie and John were devoted members of Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church, attending services every Sunday and frequently volunteering to serve their community.
Bonnie found joy in life's simple pleasures—shopping, celebrating anniversaries in St. Ignace, listening to a wide range of music, and playing cards with her family. She loved cooking, baking, and sharing meals with loved ones. A devoted fan of Charley Pride and a woman of deep faith, she cherished a good sermon and her love for Jesus. Above all, Bonnie will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly (Andy Blanzy) Burnell, John W. (Cindy) Carman II, Brian (Monica) Carman, and Sheri (Paul Turner) Carman; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Jarod), JD (Caity), Brandon (Sarah), Justin (Kristi), Amber (Ethan), Andrea, Andrew, Rachel, and Niklas; and her great-grandchildren, Quinn, Lily, Raegan, Myla, Harper, Kobe, Zavier, Aiden, Connor, and Hudson. She also leaves behind her sister in-law, Barb Pennington; and many nieces and nephews, along with her beloved Labrador, Boliver.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Carman; her parents, Gaylord and Betty Kowalk; and her siblings, Joyce Falsetta, Betty Kost, Colleen Hansen, John Hansen, and Toni Kowalk.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. A luncheon will follow the service at the Mecosta VFW where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and share memories. Memorial Contributions may be made according to Renucci Hospitality House at Corewell. Bonnie and John's ashes will be laid to rest together at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mecosta.
