Billy K. Allen, 77, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids. He was born on July 8, 1948, in Big Rapids, the son of Billie A. Allen and Velma L. Pitts.

Billy proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps.

He lived life to the fullest and was known as a storyteller, a true character, and someone who always had a way with the ladies. Billy loved hunting, fishing, and watching the birds. His travels and stories took him all over the world, and he enjoyed sharing those memories with everyone around him. He also loved listening to music and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Eileen (Rodney) Carter, Billy King Allen Jr., James Allen, Jessie Allen, and Angel Allen; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his spouse, Julie Best; siblings, Glenda (Ronald) Zuern, Belinda (Jerry) Allen, and Bonnie (Joseph) Lewis; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Corey Rudd; and siblings, Lorraine Stevens, Roxie Allen, George Allen, and Jim Allen.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

He will be laid to rest at Woodville Cemetery.
