Beulah May Thompson, 88, of Morley passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born to Elmer and Lillie (Proberts) Oakes on April 29, 1924 in Kinsley, Kansas. Beulah married Virgil Fay Thompson on November 13, 1943. They were blessed with 53 years together until his passing in 1996. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lillie; a son, Virgil "Steve" Thompson in 1972; a sister, Thelma Nadyne Rice, a grandson, Mark Bernard Elandt and a great-grandson, Jacob Scott Stout. Beulah is survived by her children, Judith (Gerald) Stout of Morley, Diana Elandt-Simmons of Rapid City, Shirley (John) Schneider of Lowell, Karen (Michael) Fitzgerald of Big Rapids and Rick (Bobbi) Thompson of Morley; her sister, Carrie Bernice Owens of Yuba City, CA; her brother Larry Oakes of Columbus,MI; a sister-in-law Lowella Miller of Big Rapids; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Beulah enjoyed crocheting, traveling, playing cards and games when able and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Dominic Tommy officiating. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Beulah's name can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
