Betty J. Taylor, age 77 of Lakeview, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Grand Rapids. She was born June 28, 1937 in Big Rapids the daughter of Gordon and Ruth (Canaan) Freiberg. Betty graduated from Big Rapids High School and went on to attend cosmetology school in Grand Rapids. She married Gerald Taylor and together they had two children. Betty resided in Grand Rapids most of her adult life; she operated her own beauty salon out of her home and later was employed at Baker Furniture in Grand Rapids. For the past few years, Betty had made her home in Lakeview where she was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her two children, Julie Chobod of Morley and Jeffery (Cheryl) Taylor of Big Rapids; two grandchildren, Chancey Kaz Taylor of Big Rapids and Henry Edwin Forrest IV of Wyoming, MI. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8890 Tamarack Road in Lakeview with Pastor Steve Voelker officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services, at the church, on Tuesday. Arrangements entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the memorial service or at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
