Scalici, Betty Jane (Poikey) "" Betty Scalici, formerly of Big Rapids, died on Monday evening, December 9, 2013, at Spectrum Health after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, to whom she was married for over 50 years. Betty was 87 years old. Betty was a graduate of Warren Centerline High School and was retired from Wolverine World Wide Corporation in Big Rapids. She enjoyed her time alone, both reading and watching her beloved Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, and in her younger days was an avid ice skater and bowler. Betty is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Carol) Scalici of Big Rapids, David (Rita) Scalici of Grand Haven, and Dan (Ellie) Scalici of Grand Rapids; several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several relatives in the Detroit area. The family will honor Betty's wishes that there be no visitation or official funeral service. After a short family service, she will be buried next to Frank in the Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
