Betty Jean Ranshaw, age 81, of Barryton passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013. She was born January 10, 1932 in Denver, Colorado. At the age of 5 she moved to Michigan with her parents Harry and Doris Huxford. She attended Lansing Everett Public Schools. After school she went to work at the Oldsmobile Manufacturing Plant, where she met the love of her life William (Bill) Ranshaw. They were married May 21, 1954. In the fall of 1960 they moved their family from Shaftsburg, MI to the Barryton, MI area. This is where they settled and raised their children. In 1969 they started Ranshaw AFC Home, where they opened their home to over 58 residents. Betty loved to play Bingo where she met many new friends. She was a high standing member in the community and was involved in many clubs and organizations. Bill and Betty raised 6 children, Douglas (Sandy), Eugene, Patricia (Lyle Cushman), Rickey (Debra), Christie (Mike Graeber), Julie ( Mike Emery). They have 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Lighthouse Free Methodist Church, 4395 20 mile Rd in Barryton on December 30, at 11:00am. A light luncheon will be served at the Barryton Community Center following the service.
