Betty L. Howe, 86, of Big Rapids, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born December 18, 1930, in Big Rapids, the daughter of the late Merrell and Celia Cox.

Betty was a resident of the Big Rapids/Morley-Stanwood area for most of her life working 30 years as a bus driver. After retirement, she continued to enjoy pursuits such as a consultant for Home Interiors and then Mary Kay, with even a time as a greeter at Wal-Mart. At home, she enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and spoiling her dash hounds. She also enjoyed the fellowship she received while attending St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Linda) Shagonabe of Hessel, MI; sister, Lois Martin of Hickory, NC; two brothers, Wayne (Bonnie) Cox and Norman (Louise) Cox of Norman, OK; seven grandchildren: Tonya (Chad), Tom (Candice), Lynessa, Troy, Crystal (Bradin), Kurt, and Jamie; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Richard Amante; and life-long friend, Dale Cramer.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Yarbrough, Charles Cory and Edwin Howe; son, Roy Yarbrough; two step-daughters, Terry Cory and Carol Hill; and step-granddaughter, Amie Hill.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 12 p.m. (Noon) to 2 p.m., at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Aetna Township Cemetery, in Morley, with Rev. John Bookshaw officiating.
