Betty Beaton, age 81 of Stanwood, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. She was born Elizabeth Caroline Lyons on May 19, 1926 to Willard and Elizabeth (Biehler) Lyons on the family farm near Stanwood. Betty had lived in East Lansing where she was an administrative secretary at Michigan State University. She later moved home to Stanwood and work at Ferris State University as the administrative assistant to Bob Parsons until her retirement. Betty loved nature and every kind of animal, she loved to read and she especially loved her grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Laura (Jeff) Reaume of South Rockwood, MI, a son, Bernie Beaton of Stanwood,three grandsons; Derek and Jeremy Anderson of South Rockwood and Nicholas Beaton of Stanwood,a brother,Willard (Wanda) Lyons of Grandville, a sister, Virginia O'Neill of Big Rapids and a nephew, Gary (Susan) O'Neill of Portage. There will be no public services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes may be picked up at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids where arrangements were made.
