Bessie Jean Weeks, age 95 of Stanwood, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017. She was born November 13, 1921 in Sandusky, Michigan, the daughter of George and Bessie (Griffin) Yoe. Bessie married James Weeks on April 12, 1943 in Big Rapids and together they raised their family in the Morley area. She was a talented woman with many trades; Bessie was a home maker, truck driver, and a mechanic, to name a few.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all the people whose lives she touched. Bessie is survived by two daughters, Kay Sharp and Pauline (Michael) DeMar; sister, Etta Jane Sickelsteel; three grandchildren, Ron Sharp, Paul Staffen, and Laura Staffen; six great-grandchildren, Ben, Gus, and Megan Sharp, Michelle and Bryan Staffen, and Brittany Blanchard; ten great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Gary Sharp, great-grandson, Jimmy Sharp, sister, Josephine Loree, and half-brother, Otto McCain.
A Burial of cremains and sharing of memories will take place 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley.
