Bernard F. Elandt, 74 of Zephyrhills, Florida, previously of Kalkaska, died June 3, 2018 at the home of his daughter Stacey Wilkinson in Kalkaska, surrounded by his loving family. "Bernie", as he was known, was born on August 9, 1943 to Doris L. Hollenbeck and Frank B. Elandt in Roseville, Michigan. Bernie moved to Stanwood at the age of two with his mother and a sister, Estelle. He was a member of the first graduating class of Morley Stanwood High School in 1961. He was employed by Michigan Consolidated Gas Company/ DTE in 1967. He retired in 1998. Upon his retirement from DTE he became employed by Grandview Golf Club in the maintenance department to be close to his passion in life, golf. In 1964 Bernie married the mother of his children, Diana Thompson and in 1976 they moved to Kalkaska. On September 25, 1998, he married wife, Jean Packard, who survives. Bernies passion in life was his family, golf, NASCAR, the great outdoors, and his two dogs, Coco and Midgi. He is also survived by his daughter Stacey (Michael) Wilkinson of Kalkaska, son, Steven (Anissa) Elandt of Bellaire, step-daughters Christy (Rob) Icard of Carmel, Indiana, Kelly (Andy) Mitchell of Traverse City. His sisters Estelle Derwin of Newaygo, Roxana Peacock of Big Rapids and a brother Kenneth Dysard of Lowell; seven grandchildren Erica, Jenna, Alayna, Makenna, Andrea, Ashley and Clay, six great-grandchildren Austin, Ryan, Theresa, Emmalynn, AJ and Juliana. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Dysard, father Frank Elandt, step-father Mike Dysard, son Mark Elandt and sister Ardith Creighton. Funeral services will take place at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 7th with Pastor Lynn Winans officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska. The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 6th at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
