Beatrice R. Batchelder, age 93 of Reed City, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her home. She was born August 19, 1924 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of William and Grace (Jenkins) Cady. Beatrice was married for 25 years to Conrad Johnson. She later married Lester Batchelder who passed away on June 14, 2006. Beatrice retired from Wolverine World Wide after 25 years of employment. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Reed City. Beatrice also belonged to TOPS, enjoyed knitting, playing games on the computer, and reading. She took pleasure in the company of her cat "Baby" and dog "Buddy". Beatrices legacy was the large family she left behind; she is survived by her five children, Darlene (Ken) Hahn of Big Rapids, Darryl (Katherine) Johnson of Ashton, Cheryl (Gary) Cook of Paris, Kerry (Rich) Seymour of Grand Rapids, and Karl "Scott" Johnson of Germany; two step-children, Johann Batchelder of Kentucky and Carol Batchelder of Big Rapids; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Biller of Big Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Cady of Kentucky and Edna Cady of Reed City; and many nieces and nephews. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 33 years, Lester Batchelder; father of her children, Conrad Johnson; daughter, Connie Cole; two grandsons, Tom Jarvie and Dallas Bishop; two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will take place 12:00 p.m. (noon) Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Liberty Baptist Church in Reed City with Pastor Trevor Guiles officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 24th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the Church. Memorial contributions in Beatrices name may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice or the American Diabetes Association in Grand Rapids.
