Barbara L. Turner, age 76 of Rogers Heights, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1947, the daughter of the late Edgar and Gladys "Luella" (Danner) Rupp. Barb graduated from a high school in Hampstead, Maryland; where she was raised and developed a liking for seafood. She married the love of her life, John Turner, on January 13, 1990. Barb was a hard worker who made a house a home. She had a passion for the outdoors; hunting, fishing, mowing the lawn, and sitting on the porch with her puppy in her lap. Barb took pride in her flower gardens and her two big vegetable gardens, which she later canned her produce. She was an excellent cook and also had other various talents: sewing, knitting, and painting. Barb never let anything stand in her way; if she didnt know how to do something, she would teach herself and then master the trade. Barb was very determined and worked hard to succeed; especially after she suffered from her stroke. She looked forward to volunteering at the Buckley Old Engine Show, which she and John did together for 30 years. Barb enjoyed watching buffalo and their beauty. She most of all loved her grandchildren and all the special memories they made as she was always playing and doing arts and crafts with them. Barb will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She survived by her husband, John Turner of Rogers Heights; five children, Peter (Laura) Brodowski of Vancouver, Robert Turner of Texas, Karen (Ron) Coxon of Rogers Heights, Todd (Michelle) Brodowski of California, Amy Brodowski of Stanton; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Margaret Turner Gould of Rogers Heights; and many nieces and nephews.Barb was preceded in death by her son Tim Brodowski, grandson James Dotson, two brothers Steven and Mike Rupp, and daughter-in-law Tammy Turner. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Robert Lyons officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6th at the Funeral Home. Barb will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Stanwood.
