Barbara Ann Reuther, age 77 of Canadian Lakes, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at her home. She was born August 31, 1930 in Flint. Barb was a graduate of Flint Central High School, she received her Registered Nursing degree from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing, and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Gerontology from Madonna University. She married Ken Reuther on March 29, 1952 while he was attending the General Motors Institute in Flint. Barb and Ken made their home in Plymouth for 36 years. They had 3 active sons and Barb kept constantly busy as her boys where involved in football, basketball, track and music activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth serving as a youth leader and advisor. In 1978 Barb and Ken purchased a home in Canadian Lakes. They found time to spend at least half of their weekends up north and following Ken's retirement they moved there permanently in 2000. Barb was a great cook and also an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting, working in ceramics and growing a beautiful garden. She is survived by her loving family, Her husband; Ken of Canadian Lakes, 2 sons; Rick Reuther of Grand Rapids,Robert Reuther of Plymouth, 2 sisters; Carolyn (Roger) Kurth and Nancy Crimmins both of North Carolina,2 nephews and one cousin. Barb was preceded in death by a son, Tom in 1995. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Victor Charnley officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Interment will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Barb's name may be directed to the Ferris State University Foundation for the Barbara Reuther Memorial Scholarship for nursing.
